Prayers Needed

A few years ago, when we still had a Super Stock class, there was a certain Purple and Yellow #38 car that was a weekly regular at the Farmerville track (then Bear Creek Raceway) and at Fast Trax Speedway. This car was driven by a life long friend of mine, Randy Davis of Quitman. Many of you may remember Randy also drove the #25 Late Model for Jimmy Adams before Jimmy passed away.

I've known Randy all of my life. Randy is the reason I ever made my first trip to a dirt track. He and his wife, Renee, went with Tim and I to the drag strip every weekend for several years. Tim and Randy raced Twin City Drag together for a long time. Then Randy got to talking with Ronnie Caples (driver of the 38special Super Stock) and he went from "straight line racing" to going in circles. After missing Randy and Renee at the drag strip for a couple of years, they talked me in to coming to a Jimmy Gray Memorial race at Bear Creek back when Mike and Doris Armstrong were running the track. That was my first trip ever to a dirt track!! And I really liked it, but didn't completely understand the point in it!! (lol) So I owe Randy alot for getting me into this sport!!

On Monday, May 7th, Randy wasn't feeling well and had a friend rush him to the local Emergency Room. As they pulled into the parking lot, Randy had a Massive Heart Attack in the vehicle. They pulled up to the ER doors and his friend ran in to get help. The nurse and other ER personnel quickly responded and began working on Randy right there outside the emergency room. He was taken inside after they got him breathing again and as soon as he was stabilized, was taken to Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston, where he was placed in the ICU Unit and listed as being in Critical Condition.

Things have been very touchy with Randy this past week. He is on a Ventilator to keep him breathing, though his heart is beating on its own. He maintains a normal Blood Pressure and Heart Rate, but is still needing the ventilator to help him breathe. He suffered some pretty severe brain damage, and at this time the only part of his brain that is functioning is the part that tells his heart to beat, lungs to breathe, and other body parts to function.

Randy is a strong man, but even the strongest of men need help. At this time, Randy is in need of help. He needs our prayers. I ask each of you to remember Randy, his wife Renee, their 11 year old son, Nicholas, and his sons Kyle and Casey in your prayers.

Thank you all very much. And I know Randy thanks you also!

Bless you all,
Linda M. Horn

Re: Prayers Needed

I would like to thank each of you who have prayed for Randy and his family. But at the same time I regret to inform you that we lost Randy Sunday, May 27th at 2:30am. Arrangements are being made today and as soon as Renee calls me with the details I will be glad to post them for those of you who would like to pay your respects.

The family had no medical insurance nor do they have burial insurance. For those of you who may be interested in sending flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations to help cover expenses. An account has been set up for the family at Hodge Bank in Hodge, LA for anyone wishing to make donations. Anyone wishing to contribute, or wanting to know any further information I will be glad to talk with you. I can be reached on my cell phone anytime at 318-497-3488.

Once again, thank you for your thoughts and prayers in this time of need. I also want to extend a special thanks for those of you who have continued to ask me about Randy over the past 3 weeks. Your concerns are appreciated. Randy was a very kind hearted man, who made friends with everyone he met. We have lost a wonderful, fun loving man, and I will miss him dearly.
