Re: Sport Mod Independence Shootout
this is the main problem you have a sanctioned race but thats 90 for the liscense plus 50 entry fee = 140 dollars for those with no liscense plus fuel cost you wont have but about 30-35 cars . Every track talks money money money then they pull something like this . In my opinion you do away with the sanction like vivian and farmerville many boothill and let the driver save that 90 dollars and he might show up and you let the young guns that want to, try and make it . like the consi payout has to be 40 cars here and you want all the drivers to have the imca liscense!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This makes no sense at all what so ever !!!!! how are you going to make sure every one has a liscense? and yes you can have an unsanctioned race as per imca, but they would rather it be an off night like a friday or a sunday, since chatham races on saturday which would allow mark and bud and whoever else wants to race like seth and jacob and jake and chase or drew or nick BUT imca frowns on this turning the sanction on and off because of a big race , i talked to them myself three weeks ago !!!!!!! they want the 90 bucks per driver, and you would think with three weeks left here get the cars and fans here !!!!!!!!!! ....................scott p.s. farmerville is having the young gun class starting this friday 7-13-07 how bout it monticello young guns can you hang with the real young guns? ....just having fun come show your support for the farmerville young gun class .

Re: Sport Mod Independence Shootout
I'm not sure who you talked to with IMCA but when I called this morning I was reading your post and asking him exactly what you asked. He stated that the track can not "turn off" the sanction for one event. The fact that some tracks are not sanctioned is beyond out control. But to participate in a race at a sanctioned track in a class that is sanctioned requires not only the drivers but the track also abide by sanction rules.

Re: Sport Mod Independence Shootout

I personally do not think fast trax is worried about getting cars and having good racing.I see more and more cars for sale every day and its all because noone wants to provide a good place to race.Chatham has a great set up and location. All you would have to do is treat every driver fair...show no favortism...get everyone out of there before midnight....and you would have a packed out house every weekend. Advertise on the radio and get some fans there but dont depend on radio to get drivers there.Thats where a telephone comes in real handy.Pick it up and call drivers and talk to them.Let them know you appreciate them coming to race with you.Let them know what improvements you are doing and what kind of races you are putting on.When a track owner or promotor calls you and talks to you and asks you to come race with them...most of the time you will come race and give them a chance.Just because they took the time out to personally call you and invite you.Give away tickets on the radio...its free advertisement! And as far as the sport mod race goes..I dont expect 30 cars.Looking at the pay out..its not worth it to most drivers to come have to pay $140 just to run.It has a decent payout but its not good enough to draw that many cars. But oh well.At least Farmerville is getting good car counts and i feel like if they would actually tech some cars..there would be alot more cars there.the rules arent very strict. At least tech the rules you do have.Just my opinion.good luck to everyone this weekend!

Re: Sport Mod Independence Shootout
i am not sure who it was either but he did tell me that they dont want the track to turn off and on the sanction part but if it was not on a regular night they are not concerned with it but they couldnt stop you from having an unsanctioned race they just ask that you not turn the sanctioning on or off , this is what was told to me by the fellow at imca because i asked about line ups and how those were done which he did answer for me then i asked about having a big race with no sanctioning because of the young guns that should be allowed to race with the adults he said that they ask that a track not turn the sanction on and off but they cant stop a track from it . i know theres more to it like benefits of being sanctioned probably some kind of rule help and driver insurance i think , which the track wouldnt be privy to if they had the race unsanctioned . i was just looking at the track needs the cars and fans but an extra 90 is tough !!! ...............scott

Re: Sport Mod Independence Shootout
Scott, I understand what you're saying and the track thanks you for considering alternatives to getting more cars. But if I'm understanding you right you are suggesting turning the sanction off to allow more cars who aren't IMCA licensed and also allowing Young Guns to run this race. If that's what you're suggesting, I don't believe the Bagwells would allow Young Guns to run with the Sport Mods anyway whether it was sanctioned or not. The  whole idea of the Young Guns class is to allow these drivers to experience racing and learn the sport while competiting against other drivers who are also learning. Personally, I don't feel it would be a good idea to put the Young Guns on the track with a full field of drivers who have been racing probably since  before these kids were born. Our regulars know who these kids are and what cars they drive, and are more apt to pay a little more attention  to  them while on the track. New cars coming in would have no idea who the Young Guns were and would probably not be as forgiving in the event one of them did a little rubbing on the track. I am in no way saying that the Young Guns are not experienced. They are doing a wonderful job, and the ones who run at Farmerville with the regular Limited Mods know a little more about what to expect on the track with a full field of very experienced drivers. I hope you understand this is just my point of view. I try to look at all angles and see things from every prospective possible. Again, I don't mean to offend anyone by my thoughts, nor do I think ANY of the Young Guns would not be able to race with Sport Mods. I will be thrilled to see them all race with them once they turn 16!!! (which some of them will be doing before the 2008 Season)
