Whether they win, finish last or don't finish at all, the Young Guns should be commended for their hard work and efforts as they strive to learn and to be the best they can be, while in search of the dream to be just like the one person they idolize most in the world of racing. Alot of the time, when this class is the last class to race, some spectators will make their way to their vehicles to begin their journey home instead of watching this class. And this is very understandable especially when we have had a very long night. At times, this class may experience several caution delays during their race, which makes for a long show sometimes. But I'm sure they would like the spectators to give them a chance to improve and learn. They work just as hard to race as the others do, and it takes just as much time and money to maintain their cars as the others take. They would appreciate the same attention as the others get. Please don't take this as a complaint to anyone...... I am not complaining at all. But I've seen the faces on a few of these drivers when they first come onto the track and they look up in the stands and wave to the fans only to see that the majority of them are leaving. You may not can see much on their faces when they have their helmets on, but you can see the look in their eyes when they notice that the people they are coming out to entertain are not going to be there to see them.
I hope this doesn't hurt anyone's feelings. But I noticed the looks in the eyes of several little faces the other night, and it hurt my feelings. We all know they are "kids", but when they are strapped in their cars..... they are more than just kids, they are race car drivers!
Thank you for allowing me to "vent" a little on Mothers Day!!!!Linda M. Horn
