The racing action is always great at Fast Trax, but when you add in the United States Modified Touring Series you come up with nothing short of the best side by side racing action a true race fan could ever wish for.
Among the great weekly racers at Fast Trax, you will find the Young Guns class. These drivers should be commended for their hard work and devotion to being the future of dirt track racing. They are great kids who come from parents who stand behind them and support them in all that they do. Though the class is small in the number of entrants each week, it is a class that many of the youngsters in the stands want to be a part of. Friday nights Young Guns feature consisted on 1st place finisher, TJ Bond (12B), 2nd place finisher Eddie Underwood (4) and 3rd place finisher Tanner Kellick (3K).
The USMTS Modified Feature was next on the track in the nights order of Feature events. As these guys rolled onto the track, each of them proudly waving flags, they formed the heart-touching four-wide parade lap formation to show their appreciation to the fans for their support.
Johnny Bone, Jr, (12B) traveled from Pea Ridge, Arkansas to take a chance on qualifying for the Feature show, started in pole position of the starting line-up and led every single lap around the clay oval to take the $2,000 win. Marshall, Texas racer, Chris Hennigan (16) trailed in for a 2nd place finish with Rodney Sanders (20) of Happy, Texas taking 3rd. A well-known name among USMTS racers and your 4th place finisher for the night was Kelly Shryock (3) from Fertile, Iowa. Another known racer, Jason Hughes (12) from Westville, Oklahoma rounded out the Top 5 finishers.
The Street Stock Feature was next in the order of events for the night. It was an exciting 20 lap race, with only two caution calls and one leader through the whole race. Casey Hobson (7) of Sterlington took the lead off the start and maintained his position until the checkered flag fell, giving him another FTS win under his belt. Your 2nd place finisher for the night was Jesse Mills (10) of West Monroe, followed by Joe Rachal (210) in 3rd, Jamie Howell (0) in 4th with the 5th place spot being occupied by Neil Standifer (11s)
The Sport Mod class was brought to the track with 22 cars qualifying for the Feature. The class did not make a full 20 lap race due to the unusual number of caution delays being brought out. However, there were three drivers able to maintain the lead spot during this race. They were Scott Duke (99D), Timmy Culp (c8) and Joel Couvillion (30). Culp led three of the last six laps, had mechanical problems and had to pull off the track, leaving Couvillion to lead the final three laps of the race. With Couvillion taking the win, Duke finished in 2nd place and Shane Hebert (9) crossed in the 3rd place position. Jared Wallace (54x) took 4th for the night, followed by David Edwards (D3) in 5th place.
The Stocker class was the last of the Feature events of the night. Leading from green to checkered without a caution delay to take the win was Austin Trichell (5T). As Austin climbed from his car to get his trophy, it became quickly apparent that his thrilling smile was almost as big as he is! He also had a very excited sister congratulating him from the stands. Taking 2nd place for the night was John Smith (84) followed by Ricky Jordan (90) in 3rd, Taylor Baker (0) in 4th and Nick Murphy (12) taking 5th place.
